Nursing is one of the most difficult of professions. Compassion may provide the motive but knowledge is the only working power. To this end we personally ensure that all our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to fulfil their job role.

All of our members go through a stringent screening process. Prior to joining our Agency division, we require:

  • Applicants to be interviewed by a registered nurse and the registered manager to assess competency and capability
  • Relevant checks to be made including Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check and 2 references from the applicants last employers to ensure there are no factors that could compromise the care they provide.
  • Current and valid documentary evidence of their status to work in the UK
  • Current and valid NMC pin numbers for qualified nurses. Checks are carried out by us through direct access to NMC records via the NMC website.
  • Relevant up to date certificates such as food hygiene, first aid, moving & handling, Health & Safety and mental health awareness.


NursesAll our members undergo a comprehensive induction process and are required and expected to follow relevant Department of Health guidelines, provided to all members in their induction packs, as well as all VKL policies and procedures and conditions of working for our Agency division.

VKL recognises the customer face of nursing is important. Thus, we operate a strict dress code policy that complies with our clients’ standard of dress code and ensure that all our members comply. We demand that all our staff maintain the highest professional and ethical standards and we carefully monitor their performance on a continual basis.

We actively seek feedback from our clients and staff as part of our quality assurance program. We feel it is important to take the time and make the effort to visit our clients to review our performance and act on any criticism or advice from clients, staff and service-users.
