Physical Intervention

This intensive 3 day course instructs students on the basic working principles of  English Law in relation to the controlled application of physical force as well as the technical physical skills required for the competent application of physical intervention techniques.  Students practice all taught physical intervention techniques in a controlled environment with a minimum of two accredited instructors.  All students are instructed on the risks associated with the use of physical restraint techniques.

Course Aims

By the end of the course, students will be able to: 

  • Use competent physical intervention techniques in appropriate circumstances within their employment role.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the law supporting the use of physical intervention.

This programme is assessed on a Pass of Fail Basis and students must be able to demonstrate competent theoretical and practical skills obtain certification.
